Pubs

I highly recommend 2 pubs:

"The English Ass"

One of the crown jewels of the Amsterdam catering industry is undoubtedly the public house De Pilsener Club, affectionately called De Engelse reet (“The English Ass”) by friends. ‘De Reet’ has been around for 125 years and has been owned by the Van Veen catering dynasty for three quarters of a century now. Four generations of Teun - the first name of all the Van Veen generations - made sure that everything remained as it used to be. The sand on the floor, the absence of music and gambling machines and the choice collection of beers on draught (8) and in bottles (15). The regular customers of De Engelse Reet are a mix of publishers, writers, journalists and booksellers. De Pilsener Club is located at number 4 Begijnensteeg, at only 50 meters from the Begijnenhof and is open from Monday to Thursday from 12.00 am to 1 am and on Fridays and Saturdays the English Ass closes an hour later. Closed on Sundays and holidays.

"Eik en Linde"

Lunch cafe “Eik en Linde” (Delicious soups.) at the end of the walk. Plantage Middenlaan 22.
Typical Dutch Brown old cafe. In the early days it was the restaurant of the Hollandsche Schouwburg: the Deportation Center in WWII.

Closed on Sundays!  : http://www.eikenlinde.nl/
